What’s Happening?

This winter and spring, get cozy in Mia’s Pillsbury Auditorium for free film screenings. Films are shown on the last Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. Free tickets required.

January 25 Ink & Linda (2022)
Start your new year with the inspiring story of an unlikely friendship. This documentary feature centers on the unexpected collaboration of two artists from different disciplines and generations. Inksap is a first-generation Vietnamese American in his twenties who channels his pain and history in his street art, while Linda is a stateswoman in her seventies who is accomplished in the realm of modern dance. Together, they run around Los Angeles, putting their art in buildings while evading the authorities’ prying eyes.

In this thought-provoking documentary, scholars, activists and politicians analyze the criminalization of African Americans and the U.S. prison boom.

March 29 Barbie (2023)
Nothing says Women’s History Month like the girl power of Barbie (2023). Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

April 19Minari (2020)
Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month a little early with Minari. A Korean American family moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American dream. Amid the challenges of this new life in the strange and rugged Ozarks, they discover the undeniable resilience of family and what truly makes a home.
