Studio Sessions

DIY Class Museum Exhibit Arts & Culture Classes

What’s Happening?

Move over Van Gogh, there’s a new artist in town! Engage your creative side during Mia Studio Sessions.

Studio Sessions are Mia’s monthly art classes, hosted on the second Sunday of each month. These classes offer experienced artmakers and curious novices alike the opportunity to create projects inspired by Mia’s collection and special exhibitions. Each month a teaching artist will select a new subject or medium to explore, and you’ll walk away with expanded knowledge and skills, plus a personal work of art. The only prerequisites for this class are curiosity and an open mind.

Registration required. Registration opens one month in advance.

Questions? Email studioprograms@artsmia.org.

January 12: Drawing
In this workshop, you’ll explore mark-making and expressive color choices inspired by the theatrical work of 19th-century French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Mia’s exhibition “At the Moulin Rouge.”

Teaching Artist Sophia Weisensel will give a brief history of Toulouse-Lautrec and his artistry. Then you’ll work with a live model for a guided drawing lesson. To end the class, join Sophia in the galleries and explore the exhibition “At the Moulin Rouge.”

February 9: Watercolors
