Brian Kastan 3 Groove Quartet

Live Music Dinner Jazz Music

What’s Happening?

The "Brian Kastan 3 Groove Quartet" is an eclectic trio and all its members are
improvisers and composers in their own right. They will deliver positive emotions and good vibes through their music. The band's sound spans from funk, jazz, world music and contemporary electronica sounds.

Brian Kastan has performed with four different Grammy winning jazz artists, Mino Cinelu, Rachel Z Hakim, Miles Griffin and Leo Genovese. He also worked with the late Juini Booth (McCoy Tyner) and recorded an album with Juini titled "Hanging with Juini". Brian composed soundtracks for T.V. and film with Oscar nominated actor Robert Loggia. To date, Brian released 65 albums under his name. French magazine Jazzaseizheur likens Kastan's improvisational electric bass playing to that of Jaco Pastorious and Stanley Clarke.

Kirk Knuffke is a world-class cornet player. He has played with a who's who of sage musicians including Billy Hart, Myra Melford, William Parker, Tootie Heath and many more. In addition to working with the Matt Wilson Quartet, the cornetist is an ongoing member of drummer Allison Miller's Boom Tic Boom sextet and Charlie Hunter's Quartet. An educator as well as a virtuoso musician, Knuffke regularly passes along his expertise and experience at international jazz camps and in university masterclasses.

Dave Berger has been drumming in the Capital District of the Hudson Valley, NY for 35-years. He has shared the stage with: Bobby Previte, Joel Framm, Nick Mancini, Sam Kininger, Joe McPhee, Michael Bisio, Jamaaldeen Tecuma, James Brandon Lewis, James Keepnews , and many more.
