What’s Happening?

Celebrate International Heritage Breed Day at the Little Rock Zoo!

Heritage breeds are animals that have been raised for generations for their unique traits and cultural significance. These breeds are not only important to agriculture but also to preserving our history and biodiversity. On International Heritage Breed Day, we celebrate these remarkable animals and the role they play in maintaining a diverse and sustainable food system.

Join us to learn about the heritage breeds at the Little Rock Zoo and how preserving genetic diversity and practicing sustainable farming practices helps to keep our ecosystems healthy.

Did you know that heritage breeds are often more resilient to diseases and environmental changes? Or that many of these breeds have played pivotal roles in farming communities for centuries? Discover these fascinating animals and the importance of preserving them through special keeper talks, educational activities, and up-close encounters with some of our heritage breed residents.

All activities are included with regular admission—come celebrate and learn how you can help protect these valuable breeds!
