Ron Bosse WSG Jeff Lorber at The Tin Pan

Other Beer, Wine, Spirits Dinner Live Music

What’s Happening?

Ron Bosse’s edgy, deeply funky, wildly adventurous and intensely melodic (and perfectly titled!) album Burning Room Only, is the perfect response to those tribalists who say it’s impossible for a dedicated straight ahead jazz cat to embrace other forms. On this dynamic, high-energy collection, the guitarist defies the “stay in your lane” mentality, collaborating with Jeff Lorber, one of jazz’s most storied and eclectic veteran composers, producers and mega-hitmakers. They bring the collection’s 11 insanely infectious and spirited tracks brought to life by an ensemble of equally genre-busting greats – including saxophonists tenor saxophonists Bob Mintzer (The Yellowjackets) and Bob Reynolds (Snarky Puppy, John Mayer), bassists Ben Shepherd, Jimmy Haslip and MonoNeon (Prince’s last bassist) and drummer Gary Novak.

Capitalizing on the enormous success of their new album, Bosse & Lorber have hit the road playing to capacity audiences throughout 2023 and 2024. Performing the uber funky and high-energy songs from “Burning Room Only”, and iconic songs from Lorber’s vast personal repertoire, they are one of the most exciting bands on the jazz scene today. Rounding out the group is a stellar lineup of some of Boston’s finest players.

“I honestly cannot overstate what a good listen it is. It has all the elements that make it stand out from the sea of good guitar players that work within the many subgenera of jazz. The interplay between the musicians is as good as it gets and the production is flawless. Ron’s guitar is a masterclass in playing for the song while still pushing the boundary far enough to make his very capable voice be heard.” Luke Wolk, Radio Guitar One

“Aerodynamic is the study of the motion of air, particularly when affected day a solid object. This effortless gliding through the air is also transferred by Ron to his music and distinguishes the entire album.”Hans-Burnd Hülsmann, Starportrait, Germany

“Bosse’s guitar brings a fiery edge to tracks that define the essence of fusion: jazz improvisation meets rock and roll abandon.” Jazz Guitar Today
