Catholic Arts & Culture Classes Workshop

What’s Happening?

The Virgin of Guadalupe has long been revered among indigenous people here in North America and is well recognized in all parts of society.  Eastern Christians refer to the image as “The Virgin Not Made by Hands,” referring to its miraculous origins. This Advent, we invite you to join us in faithfully recreating the Guadalupe image.  We’ll follow the ancient process of creating an icon in a prayerful environment, with a bit of historical background mixed in.  All supplies are provided and no prior experience is required.  You don’t even have to have natural artistic abilities, just a willingness to learn. Come away and learn to pray with a paintbrush.

We work Thursday evening after dinner, Friday evening after dinner, all day Saturday (9 am - 4 pm), and half-day Sunday (1 - 4  pm). There will be additional times available to work on a second icon for those who are interested. This is completely optional.

Fee: Single, $600 includes meals and lodging; Commuter, $400 includes 2 dinners and 1 lunch.  Pre-registration required.

For information on double rooms, please email lora@thecasa.org.
