What’s Happening?

“A voice of such exquisite control and crystalline refinement…Seamless blending of Meringolo vocals and Marieann humor…This is one heck of an entertaining lady.” - Stephen Mosher, BroadwayWorld

Award-winning songstress Marieann Meringolo makes her St. Louis debut! After a year on the road performing for sold-out crowds in Provincetown, Los Angeles, Fire Island, London, and beyond, Marieann brings her critically acclaimed new show “A Lot Of Livin’ To Do!” right off of her 3 month residency at Chelsea Table + Stage in NYC to Blue Strawberry!

As reviewed by Cabaret Scenes Magazine…“There are nights in the world of cabaret where everything just comes together and works right. Such was the occasion of Marieann Meringolo’s performance at Chelsea Table + Stage. The singer’s voice…a burnished instrument that slides up and down the scale with no noticeable break and has all the required thrilling top notes required. The show began with kinetic versions of the title number, “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” and “Are You Having Any Fun?,” and the audience was immediately drawn into the entertainment. Meringolo’s perfect enunciation aided the audience in relaxing and allowed us to enter into her world, whether it was the comedy of “Italian Menu,” a patter number that allowed her to celebrate cultural foods (in the same way that Danny Kaye celebrated Russian composers), or the subtle passion of “Fifty Percent,” or her unexpectedly humorous take on the 1960s musical angst of Vicki Carr’s hit “It Must Be You.” …This was smart cabaret.

Much of the glow of the evening was no doubt due to the input of director Will Nunziata. But it was Meringolo with her endearing bounce and her ease with her material and with her audience that really brought it all home. It’s clear that her follow-up shows will be just as distinguished. So, are you having any fun? You certainly will if you spend the evening with her.” - Bart Greenberg, Cabaret Scenes

Marieann Meringolo in “A Lot Of Livin’ To Do!” features music selections ranging from Broadway and American Songbook to Pop and Original Works. “I am thrilled to present this shows celebrating my favorite songs that I have been fortunate to sing across the country and around the world,” says Meringolo. Now more than ever we need to all be celebrating the “fun” that can be had in life - and I promise that this show will be filled with fun, laughs, and goodtimes!”

Marieann Meringolo will be joined by her longtime Musical Director Doyle Newmyer on piano. Directed by Will Nunziata.

Marieann Meringolo is a native New Yorker who grew up on the songs of the Great American Songbook. She has been called “One of the circuit’s most powerful singers” and Time Out New York claimed, “If k.d. lang’s DNA were to get whipped together with Barbra Streisand’s in a genetics lab specializing in divas, the result might well be Marieann Meringolo.” She is a MAC Award-Winning Recording Artist as well as a Back Stage Bistro Award-Winner for “Outstanding Vocalist.” BWW also had a say in nominating Marieann’s Alan Marilyn Bergman show “Between Yesterday and Tomorrow” presented at Feinstein’s/54 Below for Best Tribute Show. And, noted by The Wall Street Journal, “If you don’t do it brilliantly it isn’t worth doing at all…Ms. Meringolo’s powerhouse interpretation makes full use of the dramatic Bergman lyric.” She has received rave reviews for her newest album, released on the BluJazz label, “Between Yesterday and Tomorrow: The Songs of Alan & Marilyn Bergman” New York music critic, Will Friedwald notes, “The music of the Bergmans, as movingly realized by Marieann Meringolo, transports us to a better and more ideal world.”
