The Letter: A Message for Our Earth

Presented In Partnership with Arizona Interfaith Power & Light

In 2015, Pope Francis wrote an “encyclical letter”–a short book that popes write–called Laudato Si’. Based on Franciscan spirituality, it encourages us to see how “everything is connected.” The way we treat the Earth, our common home, is a reflection of how we treat each other. Caring for each other means caring for the home we share.

In 2022, Pope Francis and Laudato Si’ Movement in collaboration with YouTube Originals produced the movie The Letter: A Message for Our Earth. This important movie, tells the story of a journey to Rome of five leaders from regions impacted by the climate crisis. They have been invited to discuss the encyclical letter with Pope Francis. Along the way, we learn how climate change is affecting each of the protagonists and the work they do to protect our planet and the most vulnerable who live on it. Together, they commit to supporting each other for the work ahead.
