Lost & Founders Walkabout

If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together - African Proverb

Whether you're lost, wandering, wondering, founding, or floundering, come walk with us. Let's focus on what's ahead of us, and being present. Leave your phone in your pocket except to take pictures.

Some walks are longer than others but this first one starts things off with a bang. We'll meet at the Infield at the Henry Doorly Zoo Saturday October 15th. From 8:45am to 9:00am we'll formulate a plan for the route and exchange information for anyone who might get legitimately lost, or just wants to stay in touch.

You can walk for as little or as long as you'd like, but here's the plan for a couple of us:
Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium*
Lauritzen Gardens/Kenefick Park*
The Durham Museum*
Omaha Farmers Market
Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront
Hot Shops Art Center*
Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge*
Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park
Council Bluffs Recreation Complex
Lake Manawa Dream Land Park (optional depending on mileage and timing)
End at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium
If all goes well, it should be a full day walk, with about 23 miles covered.

*destinations that have a button available for tracing the footsteps of Omai, the sister troll of Omar.

Please note that none of the stops along the route are approved, sponsored, or endorsed, but you are encouraged to stop and explore them, and any other place you find interesting along your path.

The route is completely unmarked, self guided, and you will face distractions.
This is not a race, it's also not quite a marathon. There is no medal at the end, nor any other celebration planned other than high fives.

You might meet people who make great company, or you might walk long distances in silence.

At 6pm, the walk should be done, and we should all be pretty tired.

If walking isn't your cup of tea, any other form of locomotion is fine, you'll just go faster than we will. According to Google, it'd be about a 2 hour bike ride to make the loop.
