What’s Happening?

Pat Patterson & Randy Parker Art Exhibition
October 1–November 30, 2026
Reception: October 18, 2026, 3–5 pm
On view: Grand Hallway

“Pat Patterson has a passion for art and the process of making art throughout his life. After receiving his BFA from The Memphis College of Art, he worked in communication arts throughout his career. Over several decades as owner and Creative Director of Patterson/Graham Design Group, he had the opportunity to work with many well known national & regional brands. Since 2020, having retired from the grit and grind of running a design firm, he is focused on his fine art endeavors.

In this body of work, Pat explores the quiet tension between permanence and impermanence within the landscape. Layered texture and scraped surfaces play a central role in the composition, using mixed media, allowing gesture, mark making and textile to coexist. The physical surface becomes a record of process, suggesting wind, water and the slow wearing of the land. The horizon line often anchors the piece, offering a sense of scale and spatial depth, holding space between grounded earth and open air.”

“After a career in Memphis as an advertising copywriter and creative director, Randy Parker took on the mighty challenge of watercolor painting in 2024. Randy's watercolors reflect his love of state and national parks as well as the everyday landscapes we all encounter. Randy's art has been included in numerous juried shows in Memphis and Little Rock and has earned several awards of merit. Although most of his paintings are inspired by specific places, he hopes they have the power to take you to the places you love.”
