What’s Happening?

Flameworking 1 Hour Torch Rental: Borosilicate - 1 HOUR SESSIONS

Interested in developing your torch skills on your own time? Join us for rental times here at the Hyannis HyArts Campus. Students who have previously joined us for at least one flame working class and/or pass a basic competency test may work semi-independently with the supervision of an experienced flame worker. Rental times are available Friday - Mondays and will vary in types of glass used (soft glass vs borosilicate). Please refer to the calendar to see dates/glass temp. schedule. Safety & What to Expect Rental time is held at our HyArts Campus Flamework Studio All participants must wear 100% cotton or linen clothing (no synthetic fabrics), along with closed-toe shoes. Long hair must be tied back securely before class. Protective eyewear will be provided to help you safely view the flame and glowing glass during the workshop. We will provide tools necessary to work, but renters are required to purchase rods of glass to use during their time. Seconds and ends may be provided free of cost. Clear glass rods: $3/rod Color rods: $5/rod All pieces created during class must cool slowly in a kiln to ensure durability and prevent cracking. Finished work will be available for pickup 1-3 days after creation depending on the pieces. If students are making beads, they will be responsible for the removal & bead clean-up.
