--

The Neill-Cochran House Museum is honored to be selected as the site of a Toni Morrison Society Bench by the Road. This new public landmark will serve as a quiet monument—a place for reflection, remembrance, and dialogue about the past and its ongoing resonance in the present. We hope that the press and media will be interested in covering this special occasion and sharing the news of its dedication with our community across the city and state, and around the world.

About the Neill-Cochran House Museum

The Neill-Cochran House Museum is an independent nonprofit that preserves and reflects the experience of some of Austin’s earliest residents. Built in 1855, the house and slave quarters and the collections they display shed light on the local, individual, and political history of our always-growing city. Today, the Museum features rotating exhibits, a speaker series called "Modern Times," and free monthly events for the entire family. The main house is among the oldest residences still standing in Austin. The site is also home to the only remaining intact slave quarters in the city.
