Murder! At The Holiday KindlMarkt

Theater History Christmas

What’s Happening?

The Fun

Step into an evening of mystery, laughter, and make‑believe at our Murder Mystery Comedy Dinner Theater. Escape the everyday and become part of a story where a festive gathering is suddenly interrupted by a shocking crime. You won’t just watch the show — you’ll be written into it as one of the characters.

The Participation

Participation is completely optional, but for those who want to join the fun, we’ll cast 15–20 guests as minor characters with real speaking lines. Simply stand at your table and read your part — no stage, no pressure, just pure fun inside a 100‑year‑old mansion’s dining room.
Show off your most dramatic “death scene” if you’re the victim, or wow your friends with a deliciously wicked confession if you’re the culprit. Two professional performers will play the major roles and guide everyone through the unfolding mystery.

The Dinner

The evening unfolds in four acts, each followed by a course of your meal.
Start with your choice of salad, enjoy a second course featuring a rotating selection of meat or vegetarian entrées, and finish with a decadent dessert.
Because our dinner is catered, the main entrée varies weekly — check in with us to see what delicious dish is on the menu for your performance.

The Comedy

This isn’t Shakespeare — it’s a lighthearted, laugh‑filled comedy designed to keep the mood festive and fun.

The Kids

No need for a babysitter. The show is clean, family‑friendly, and free of profanity or anything that might spoil your appetite. Kids are welcome to participate, and they often steal the show.

The Game

Keep your eyes open from the very first scene. Clues are everywhere.
Take notes, follow your hunches, and play detective throughout dinner.
At the end of the night, we award prizes for the best sleuth and the best audience actor or actress.

Every performance is different because the audience helps shape the story. Strangers arrive… and friends leave.

The Story

Greta Worrywort, longtime Chief Organizer of the Holiday Kindlmarkt in Central Indiana, is thrilled to welcome the President of Kindlmarkt International, visiting all the way from Tinselplatz, Bavaria.

But Klaus von Tannenbaum doesn’t come alone. He brings Carol Kashem — the new manager of the Indiana Kindlmarkt. Greta’s job is suddenly on the line, and Carol wastes no time announcing that several long‑standing booths will be shut down for failing to meet sales quotas.

Before she can begin her “reorganization,” someone hands her a drink… and it’s poisoned.
With her final breath, Carol declares, “I expect all of you to spend the rest of the evening figuring out what I drank and who did this to me.”

Was it you? Was your booth next on her chopping block?
