What’s Happening?

The NYC-based critically acclaimed “Alex Weitz Group” will make their anticipated return to Black Cat SF from August 28-31st. They are known for their strong group dynamic, exciting interpretations of standards, and captivating original compositions. Across the span of a decade they have recorded four albums, including their recent release “Rule of Thirds” on Outside in Music as well as “Live at the Black Cat”.

Bandleader Alex Weitz won second place in the Michael Brecker International Saxophone Competition, has won two ASCAP Herb Alpert Composer Awards, and was a recent finalist in the DCJazzPrix.

Alex has performed at esteemed venues and jazz festivals around the world including Dizzy's Club, Tucson Jazz Festival, Red Sea Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Birdland Jazz Club, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Jazz Standard, South Beach Jazz Festival, Smalls Jazz Club, Telluride Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Showcase.
