Taste of Sudan: A Hands-On Cooking Class
We’re thrilled to host Ikhlas Mohammed, alongside her mother, Nanna, co-founders of Nanna’s Sudanese Cuisine, for a special evening that brings the soul of Sudanese home cooking to life. Rooted in tradition and shaped by resilience, this class is a chance to explore the flavors, stories, and spirit of Sudan—right from their family kitchen to yours.

Together, we’ll prepare a nourishing, flavor-filled menu while learning about the customs and memories behind each dish. Whether you’re new to Sudanese food or looking to reconnect with familiar flavors, this is a night of cooking, conversation, and community you won’t want to miss.

On the Menu
Mahshi
Vegetables stuffed with herbed rice, ground beef and spices—comfort food at its best.

Mesh Dip
A bold and savory spread made with Whipped Yogurt, Feta cheese , lemon juice, seasoned with garlic and black pepper -perfect for scooping with bread.

Sudanese Salad
Crisp, bright, and citrusy—simple, refreshing, and full of flavor.

What You’ll Experience
-A hands-on, beginner-friendly cooking session led by Ikhlas and Nonna
-Cultural insights, food stories, and personal reflections woven into the class
-Tips for recreating the recipes in your own kitchen
-Wine and non-alcoholic drinks served throughout the evening
-A take-home recipe guide so you can cook it all again
-A shared meal featuring everything you’ve prepared, served with traditional Sudanese bread
-Space to ask questions, share stories, and connect with others around the table
Come hungry—not just for food, but for culture, connection, and the kind of warmth that only home-cooked meals can offer.
