FIlm Movies Other Entertainment

What’s Happening?

2:00PM: Doors Open  |  3:00PM: Showtime

Movies at the Palace continues its 2025 Season of Community with the Pixar classic, Monsters, Inc. on Sunday, July 27th! Just as the citizens of Monstropolis fuel their city with children's screams, we need your screams to power the movie! Come early for a pre-show scream contest on stage, complete with themed prizes for our young participants, and a raffle of movie memorabilia in the Grand Foyer. And remember, we scare because we care.

Voiced by Billy Crystal and John Goodman. Directed by Pete Docter, David Silverman, and Lee Unkrich. Written by Pete Docter, Jill Culton, and Jeff Pidgeon. The movie is 1 hour and 32 minutes, Rated G, and will be screened on DCP.

Monsters, Inc. continues the Movies at the Palace Season of Community, celebrating 95 years serving the community of Washington Heights. To learn more about our 2025 season, click here.

More about United Palace
Built in 1930 as one of Loew’s “Wonder Theatres,” the United Palace was one of the region’s premier vaudeville and movie houses. Designed by noted architect Thomas Lamb (James Earl Jones Theatre, Ziegfeld Theatre) with interiors by decorative specialist Harold Rambusch (Waldorf Astoria, Roxy Theatre), it was described by The New York Times as “Byzantine-Romanesque-Indo-Hindu-Sino-Moorish-Persian-Eclectic-Rococo-Deco” and a “kitchen sink masterpiece.” With more than 3,000 seats, it is still the fourth largest venue of its kind in Manhattan.
