Castle & Cathedral District Art Walk

Tours Art Exhibition

What’s Happening?

Bring the entire family every third Thursday in the Joslyn Castle neighborhood along 40th Street, between Dodge and Cuming Streets. District partners Cathedral Arts Project Omaha, Cali Commons, Joslyn Castle & Gardens, and the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association, are looking forward to opening up our venues for an evening of art and fun!

June 19th from 5 - 8pm start your evening at Joslyn Castle & Gardens with three events open to the public!

On the lawn, guests can enjoy live music by Blues Ed youth groups, The Redwoods and True Blues.

LaLa Artist, Dana Damewood, will have a photo exhibition throughout the first two floors of the Castle.

Inside the Carriage House Gallery our Castle & Cathedral District Guest Artist in Residence, Paul High Horse, will host the opening reception of his solo painting exhibition, "Unfiltered and Unapologetic."

Stop by the newly opened side of the Carriage House for a Poetry Pause to welcome our recent district partners, the Nebraska Poetry Society! During the Art Walk come hang out with us in the Carriage House for The Poetry Pause. You’ll hear two local poets—one seasoned and one just starting to make waves—read their work and chat about why they write. It’s a great place to sit down, cool off, and enjoy something a little different. The poetry is thoughtful, fun, and totally family-friendly, and you’ll even have the chance to ask the poets questions. Stop by and see what poetry sounds like when it’s shared out loud.

June Poets

Emily Anderson and Rayni Wekluk

Emily (she/they) brings her love of language from the classroom to the stage with wit and warmth, while Rayni taps into everyday life and humor to make her poetry relatable and thought-provoking.

Stroll down 40th Street to Cali Commons for "The Art of Healing" Community Art Show and special performance by Omaha musician, Ally Peeler. Peeler is a well know musician who plays the ukulele and sings from her heart. She finds inspiration in everything around her and wants to promote a message of collaboration, acceptance and love. Ally will be set up outside of Cali Common at 40th and California from 6 to 7:30 pm. Bring a lawn chair!

Cathedral Arts Project will have an exhibit of watercolors by Telagio Baptista accompanied by live music by Bel Canto Duo. There will also be a caricature artist doing free portraits!
