Poetry Performance Art Comedy

What’s Happening?

Come out for 2 One-Human Shows in 1!

Join Adrian and Karla as they share their personal journeys surrounding identity, labels and more. You’ll experience storytelling, poetry, song, Shakespeare and improv on stage. It’ll be a fun, silly, sad, vulnerable and intimate evening not to miss!

Meet Adrian (they/them)!
Adrian Parrish is a Charlotte local queer comedian, poet, and storyteller. They enjoy crafting shows that combine all of those elements and engage with audiences in unique ways.

About Adrian’s show:
A Secret Third Thing is a one human show that combines poetry, comedy, and storytelling to break down binaries of all types. It challenges the binaries of what it means to be man/woman, religious/spiritual, married/divorced, family/friend. It follows the story of one person and their journey from being a cis, heterosexual, devout Christian to a nonbinary, queer, curious artist.

Meet Karla (she/her)!
Karla Dingle has spent her life on stage starting at age 5. Currently, she is an Improviser, Producer, Director and Teaching Artist specializing in the intersection of acting and improvisation, using traditional acting techniques to enhance performances in both disciplines. She performs regularly with Now Are the Foxes Improv Comedy, Pillow Talk Improv, Close Distance Improv, and British American Experience. Karla has taught students from around the US & the world including England, Ireland, Wales, Switzerland and has been a guest instructor at several festivals and organizations.

About Karla’s show:
Judged is a one woman show exploring labels, drama and truth! Discover how words, actions and society defined Karla to become more than just fat & funny! You’ll experience her emotional journey that includes songs and Shakespeare. Karla will be joined on stage by local performers to further explore labels through improv.

This show is presented in partnership with CATCh, Queen City Comedy and Dingle Drama.
