CR8:BLK Studios Presents: The Afro-Indigenous Film and Media Summit 2025


On June 6-7, 2025 CR8:BLK Studios is hosting the Afro-Indigenous Film and Media Summit 2025- "The Business of Being a Creative" (AIFMS2025) in Charlotte, NC! Taking place at the Independent Picture House, this two-day summit will have film screenings, workshops, panel discussions, networking, and more. The AIFMS was developed by CR8:BLK Studios to facilitate engagement amongst filmmakers from across the USA with independent film and media companies. The two-day event geared towards fostering productive connections while bringing to the center a focus on Afro-Indigenous and Indigenous narratives and storytelling. 


GOALS OF THE AIFMS2025

Provide resources about film and media opportunities for marginalized communities.
Connect organizations, companies, and individuals directly with their target audiences.
Promote an understanding of the term “Afro-Indigenous” by highlighting film and media from the African diaspora, the Native American diaspora, and other indigenous cultures.

Day One: June 6, 2025 3-6pm

Opening Remarks from CR8:BLK Studios
Workshop One: Beyond Film Festivals Understanding Distribution
Workshop Two: Marketing and Branding for Creatives
Media Interactive Space a special installation on Afro-indigenous languages using film, video art, and discussion. Includes film screening of Bakosó: AfroBeats of Cuba.
AIFMS2025 Short Film Showcase and Meet n’ Greet
Filmmaker Mixer Meet local filmmakers and engage in a bit of film trivia with a chance to win prizes.
Welcome Dinner for filmmakers and creatives off site and tickets to the Welcome Dinner are limited by invite only.

Day Two: June 7, 2025 2-6pm

CR8:BLK Studios Virtual Webinars CR8:BLK Studios will host two virtual webinars on “The Business of Being a Creative” and “Navigating Fiscal Sponsorship”.
Three Panel Discussions-Africa Cinema Now, Beyond Spanish, Indigenous Storytelling in the Americas , and The Business of Being a Creative
Break Out Sessions-Two special break-out sessions : Perfecting the Pitch and Sit Down with a Producer.
AIFMS 2025 Pitch Contest -Winner Announced
Closing Film Screening of the film "Duality" followed by a Q&A on Defining Afro-Indigenous.
Rooftop Networking Event Meet the CR8:BLK Studios team and network with creatives and special announcement about CR8:BLK’s Film Residency Program.
