Wine Class

What’s Happening?

Discover the stories, soils, and standout wines of South Africa—straight from the source with Jim Clarke as your guide on Tuesday, May 20th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

About Jim Clarke:

Jim Clarke is a prominent wine writer, educator, and communicator who has become one of the leading voices on South African wine. He is the author of The Wines of South Africa (2020), part of the Infinite Ideas Classic Wine Library series, which offers a comprehensive and engaging deep dive into the country’s wine regions, grape varieties, and producers.

Clarke brings a unique perspective to his writing—he's not only a seasoned wine journalist but also has firsthand experience as the U.S. Marketing Manager for Wines of South Africa (WOSA). Before taking on his role with WOSA, Clarke worked as a sommelier in New York City and wrote for publications such as Wine Enthusiast, World of Fine Wine, and Sommelier Journal.

In The Wines of South Africa, Clarke not only explores the geography and geology that shape the wines, but also dives into the transformation of the industry post-apartheid, the rise of new-wave producers, and the efforts toward sustainability and inclusivity. His work champions the complexity, quality, and diversity of South African wines—especially the country’s strengths in Chenin Blanc, Syrah, and old vine heritage.
