About the Composers
Jessie Montgomery is an award-winning composer, violinist, and educator known for her unique blend of classical, vernacular, and social elements in music. Her string works are globally celebrated for their vibrant, modern interpretations of American soundscapes. Montgomery's achievements include the Leonard Bernstein Award and a three-year residency with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Florence Price, the trailblazing African-American female composer, broke barriers with her enchanting symphonic and chamber music. Her String Quartet No. 2 captivates listeners with its emotive themes interlaced with African American heritage influences and modernist harmonies from the early twentieth century.
