Southern Accents: ÚltimaNota Live & Acoustic

Latin Live Music Concert

What’s Happening?

Presented by Levine Museum of the New South.

Enjoy the music of Charlotte’s own ÚltimaNota like you have never heard them before in an unplugged-style performance at The Long Room. The show includes the first live performance (acoustic style) of their latest single “Soy De Todos Lados,” featuring La Brava!”

Led by guitarist Tony Arreaza, ÚltimaNota’s Spanish-language songs blend Latin rhythms with pop, funk, and blues guitar with a modern twist. In this intimate performance, they will take an acoustic approach for the first-time. The night will feature stories about the band’s history and the lyrics of some of the band’s original songs for and about Charlotte’s immigrant communities, as well as performances with local Latinx musicians Bakalao Stars, Dunny Méndez, La Brava, and Wanda López.

Come early and enjoy (while supplies last) light refreshments courtesy of Manolo's Bakery! Drinks will be available for purchase, and free parking is available on-site.

ABOUT:
ÚltimaNota was founded in 2009 in Charlotte, North Carolina with members hailing from Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, El Salvador and Dominican Republic.

The band fuses new with old, English with Spanish, and traditional latin rhythms with pop, funk, and blues guitars to create a fresh and modern sound. Influenced by a broad range of musical styles from Buena Vista Social Club to Bob Marley to Hector Lavoe, ÚltimaNota is known for creating covers with a uniquely characteristic twist.

On March 12, 2022, ÚltimaNota released a full-length album of 12 original songs that features local Latinx artists and highlights the diversity of latin music styles created in Charlotte.

The album’s single, “Mi Sueño” which translates to “My Dream,” a tribute to immigrants was nominated for “Best Music Video” at the 2022 Official Latino Film & Arts Festival in Palm Springs, CA.
