Marcus Festival: Future Dreaming

Festival Food Trucks Opening Reception

What’s Happening?

Our 2024 Marcus Festival celebrates the opening of our new outdoor art exhibition, Future Dreaming… A Path Forward.

As part of this festival, we will unveil an exciting new permanent work, A Path Forward: Honoring Ohlone Land & Spirit. This project is a collaboration between Montalvo, the Confederation of Ohlone People, and the Santa Clara County Parks, through a generous NEA Our Town Grant and the California Arts Council. Anchored by a beautiful new sculpture of a hummingbird forged by artist Francisco Graciano, A Path Forward will incorporate wayfinding, storytelling, and digital technology to elevate local Ohlone voices, honor indigenous knowledge, and enlighten visitors about forest stewardship, land management, and environmental kinship. The work’s creative team is lead by Charlene Eigen-Vasquez and also includes Olivia Esparza, Jesus Rodriguez, and Ruben Dario Villa.

Future Dreaming will also feature works by artists Marie Watt, Beatriz Cortez, Rayos Magos, and Ana Teresa Fernandez, whose installations will inspire visitors to imagine a future built upon ancestral wisdom. The opening festival will be a fun, FREE public celebration featuring music, performance, and participatory activities, all activated by our local community of creators. You’ll be able to grab a meal from a food truck, roam the grounds with your friends or family, and enjoy a memorable evening with us!

All parking will be off-site at West Valley College, with free shuttle service to and from Montalvo. Please RSVP for entry.
