What’s Happening?

Step into a realm where imagination knows no limits. The boundaries of gravity and creativity blur, offering an intimate window into the essence of creativity itself with Pilobolus's re:CREATION Tour. The famed dance company launches into the next half-century with their new program re:CREATION after final bows this summer of THE BIG FIVE-OH! tour (celebrating fifty years of Pilobolus) at The Joyce Theatre in New York.  re:CREATION is a transformative odyssey of reinvention where both audience and artists rediscover, redefine, and recreate timeless narratives through new visions of history, myth, and the innate human need for expression.

re:CREATION is a dynamic collection of dance pieces -  daring experiments and groundbreaking new collaborations -  which stand alongside their classics, recognized as having altered the landscape of dance and theater.  re:CREATION is both timely and timeless, keeping the company at the forefront of innovation.

Pilobolus—named after a barnyard fungus that propels its spores with extraordinary speed, accuracy, and strength—is a dance company founded by a group of Dartmouth College students in 1971 and is now run by Executive/Co-Artistic Director Renée Jaworski and Artistic Director Matt Kent. Over the past 50 years, they have evolved into a pioneering American cultural institution of the 21st century. Pilobolus creates diverse collaborations that break down barriers between disciplines and challenge the way we think about dance. Physically and intellectually, the company engages and inspires audiences worldwide through performance, education, and consultation.

Having created and toured over 120 pieces in over 70 countries, Pilobolus’ repertory grows year after year and includes two evening-length shows, Shadowland and Shadowland: A New Adventure, as well as collaborations with exciting artists, designers, and thinkers. Pilobolus has been featured on notable programs such as CBS This Morning, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, MTV’s Video Music Awards, NBC’s Today Show, and many more. The groundbreaking dance company has also been recognized with many prestigious awards, including a TED Fellowship, a Grammy Award nomination, a Primetime Emmy Award, and several Cannes Lion Awards at the International Festival of Creativity.
