Join us for Logan Center’s Third Tuesday Jazz Series season presented in partnership with the Hyde Park Jazz Society with Alvin Cobb Jr. (Drums ), and Katie Ernst (Bass/Vocals) and Julius Tucker (Piano) in an intimate performance in Café Logan.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

A native of metropolitan Atlanta, Alvin Cobb, Jr., is a drummer, composer, and award-winning photographer currently based in Chicago. A graduate of Florida State University (B.A., 2013) and Northwestern University (M.M., 2015), Alvin has worked with countless artists, including Marcus Printup, Victor Goines, Dee Alexander, Patricia Barber, Sarah Marie Young, and Sherman Irby.He is the leader of theAlvin Cobb, Jr. Trio, consisting of bassist/vocalist Katie Ernst and pianist Julius Tucker.

This trio originally formed during the pandemic to independently produce livestream concerts that would help raise funds for numerous grassroot charity organizations. Since their start in late 2020, the trio has held a residency at Chicago’s Andy’s Jazz Club, toured original live film scores celebrating the work of legendary Black film pioneer Oscar Micheaux, and was nominated (placing 3rd) in the 2022 Chicago Reader, “Best of Chicago” Poll for Best Jazz Ensemble. Their debut album is set to be released in early 2024.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The Hyde Park Jazz Society selects local jazz musicians and those with a Chicago connection to perform on the third Tuesday of every month at Café Logan. The Café will offer its full menu for purchase, including wine, beer, and a coffee bar. Third Tuesday Jazz is presented by the Logan Center, Hyde Park Jazz Society, and 90.9FM WDCB Jazz Radio.
