In 2022 Americans spent $136.8 billion on their pets, up 10.68% from 2021 ($123.6 billion). The global pet care market was valued at $150.67 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 5.1% from 2022 to 2030.

What makes the pet industry so appealing?

As of 2023, 66% of U.S. households (86.9 million homes) own a pet
Most Americans (62%) own a pet, including about a third (35%) with more than one. And nearly all U.S. pet owners (97%) say their pets are part of their family
81% of dog owners feel their pets are "on par with children in the family"
78% consider themselves to be pet "parents" (not "owners")
Baby Boomers and Millennials make up almost 60% of the ownership
