Wishbone Ash At The Tin Pan

Other Beer, Wine, Spirits Dinner Live Music

What’s Happening?

"Nearly fifty years ago, in a musical era that shaped the history of rock, the iconic British band Wishbone Ash unveiled their masterpiece, Live Dates. This album not only marked a pivotal moment for the band but also left an indelible imprint on the annals of rock music. Fondly recalling those bygone days, founder Andy Powell, who continues to steer the ship, reminisces, "Back then, we were in an epic three-year tour, fresh from releasing Argus, a studio album that, looking back, stands as one of our most significant. We were firing on all cylinders, a well-oiled musical machine, and renowned for our dynamic live performances. It was only natural to capture that boundless energy and raw vitality in a live album. Fortunately, our record label backed us with the costly Rolling Stones Mobile Recording Truck, allowing us to immortalize multiple shows from our UK tour, crystallizing the most electrifying moments into Live Dates."

The word "new" here signifies that this legendary material, meticulously arranged in its original sequence, is brought to life once again by the current lineup and recorded live at Daryl's House Club in Pawling, New York. This thrilling revival takes the form of Live Dates Live, available on CD, vinyl double LP, and digital download. Continued Powell, "Live Dates Live stands as our homage to the original and a heartfelt thank-you to the dedicated fans who have played an instrumental role in keeping the flame of Wishbone Ash alive throughout the decades. We are one of the few bands from the early seventies that still stand tall, continuously crafting new albums and embarking on vibrant tours."

Now, one might argue that the Wishbone Ash of 2023 is a far cry from the lineup of 1973. But is it really? After all, the driving force behind the band, guitarist/vocalist Andy Powell, still wields the musical reins with precision and passion. Moreover, the ensemble features talents like guitarist Mark Abrahams, bassist Bob Skeat, and drummer Mike Truscott, virtuosos who may hail from a different generation but exude the same spirit and philosophy that made this band a true legend. In 2023, as in 1973, Wishbone Ash continues to be a beacon of musical excellence and a testament to the enduring power of rock 'n' roll."
