The Ground Beneath is a group art exhibition curated by Jared Spence. Comprised of multi-media artworks including video installation, photography, painting, sculpture and collage; the show features works from 17 artists from Omaha, Denver, Chicago and Portland.

The exhibition is centered around celebrating the beauty of feet as well as celebrating the stories of our journeys that our feet tell. Initially challenging the participating artists to identify and explore the uniqueness, awkwardness, aesthetic beauty, sensual beauty, spiritual and symbolic significance of feet; the exhibition subsequently engages the viewer to do the same and examine feet through a new, appreciative lens.

Spence and his featured artists create an opportunity to uncover our feet and their stories by shining a new light on them as a subject worthy of being praised and held as beautiful. Spence zooms in on the significant role our feet play carrying us through life and grounding us while also magnifying the unconventional beauty of a part of our body that is often hidden.

The Ground Beneath is accompanied by a soundscape produced by Atlanta
musician and composer Graham Ulicny. Mixed with audio of barefoot nature
hikes and ambient composition, the audio feature serves as the heartbeat and breath of the exhibition.
