City Nature Challenge at Fontenelle Forest

Spring Nonprofit Events Hiking

What’s Happening?

Fontenelle Forest is excited to partner with Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium for the 2020 City Nature Challenge. Join us on April 24-27, 2020, for a nature break, an outdoor adventure observing and documenting plant and animal species.

This is our chance to get to know the plants, animals and fungi that are in our backyards, our parks, and our neighborhoods to better understand how our lives affect the ecology around us.

Sign up today at inaturalist.org and join the project City Nature Challenge 2020: Omaha Metro. You’ll start receiving journal posts about activities that you can do to practice before the event, hints on how to improve your photography, and even ways you can help others identify their observations.

You will need the iNaturalist app to participate. This app is free to download on Apple’s App Store or Google Play for Android. Sign up for iNaturalist here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2020-omaha-metro

Learn more information about the 2020 City Nature Challenge and how this year’s event is different than year’s past at http://www.omahazoo.com/citynaturechallenge.

Make sure to share your exciting Forest discoveries on Facebook and tag us!

While we are excited to see what awesome discoveries our guests find and document at the Forest during City Nature Challenge 2020, we want to make sure everyone knows that you can participate in this event from anywhere, including your own back yard!

Should you choose to come out to the Forest, trail access is free for Fontenelle Forest members or with the purchase of daily admission for non-members. You can purchase a membership or daily admission online at fontenelleforest.org.

Questions? Call 402-731-3140.
