Words Uncovered and Unabridged with Stefan Fatsis

Lecture

What’s Happening?

NYT bestselling author Stefan Fatsis joins Planet Word for a delightfully word-nerdy evening as he shares his latest book, Unabridged: The Thrill of (and Threat to) the Modern Dictionary. Explore the history of Merriam-Webster, the evolution of dictionaries, and the shifting landscape of the English language at a time when we create, consume, and define words faster than ever.

The evening also features a lively round of Fictionary, led by Fatsis. Put your linguistic creativity to the test as you invent definitions for obscure words and vote on which ones rise above the rest.

5:00 p.m. — Author Talk and Fictionary (Friedman Family Auditorium)
6:00 p.m. — Book Signing (Welcome Lobby)

Note: This program may include adult language. For questions or concerns regarding accessibility needs, please contact programs@planetwordmuseum.org.
