Carlisle Evans Peck “The Lines in My Hands” Album Release Show

Rock Folk & Traditional Concert

What’s Happening?

Minnesota singer-songwriter and composer Carlisle Evans Peck will celebrate the release of their new album “The Lines in My Hands” with a performance at The Cedar Cultural Center. A 2022 alum of the Cedar Commissions program, Carlisle will perform the album with a full band. Guest artists Proper-T and McKain Lakey will open the evening.

Originally from small-town Illinois, Carlisle has lived, worked and performed in Minneapolis since 2015. Their music is grounded in queer mythic storytelling somewhere at the meeting of music theater and bardic balladry. Gender and genre-bending, their queer glam-folk-rock musical style is a singular melding of the ethereal folk echoes of the likes of Joanna Newsom and Sufjan Stevens with a glamorous theatrical drama and maximalism reminiscent of Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. In response to their musical intuition, innovation, and inspiration, collaborators have granted them the nickname “The Magician”.

“The Lines in My Hands” is Evans Peck’s third studio recording, a collection of folk-tinged ballads that set the duality of life and death to songs in turn heartbreaking and joyous. Their Neo-classical and orchestral rock roots ring clear in the lush, glamorous, and ethereally theatrical musical style that brings a fresh magnetism to the genre. Written primarily in the early lockdown months of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is an album about life and death, the two sides of the same cosmic coin, and the grappling with transience and mortality that came with the pandemic – both the physical deaths, and the death of the lives lived in the before times.

On “The Lines in My Hands”, Evans Peck leads a luminous ensemble—Willow Waters, Peter Morrow, Lars Johnson, Zack Baltich, Anna Dolde, Kasi Misseldine, Aubrey Weger, Mikey Marget, and Joe Peterson—recorded at The Nettle Bed, mixed at The Hideaway, mastered at Anthem Mastering, and released on Aura Vortex Records.
