Light it Up! Community Caroling & Holiday Concert

Bar Trivia & Games Christmas Concert

What’s Happening?

Light it Up!

Sunday, December 7 from 3p-7p

Central Machine Works

Join Panoramic Voices, Density512, and KMFA Classical 89.5 for an afternoon of holiday caroling (for voices and instruments of ANY skill level), classical music trivia, and a full holiday concert with 150 voices and exceptional guest artists!

Here's the lineup:

COMMUNITY CAROLING — 3:30PM
This is NOT a performance, but rather a Christmas carol sing/play along for singers and instrumentalists of any skill level! Join 150 singers from Panoramic Voices (Austin's joyful, inclusive community choir) for fun, casual musicking, supported by professional instrumentalists from local chamber ensemble, Density512. No rehearsals, no consequences!

We will have music packets available for singers and instrumentalists (with at least one line transposed for F and Bb instruments)— OR, FOLLOW YOUR HEART, SING ALONG, IMPROVISE... No rules! Just joy.

HOLIDAY TRIVIA — 4:30PM
KMFA Classical 89.5's Guillermo Delgado will run a quick bonus session of his monthly "Classical Music Trivia," with a focus on the holidays! Form a team, and compete in this rapid-fire triva session for prizes!

OPENING SET BY SOUND COLLECTIVE — 5:30PM
Leading into the full Pano concert, we invite our friends at the newly formed Sound Collective—Austin's newest special needs chorus—to perform an opening set. Come support this joyful, vibrant group as they get their program off the ground!

PANORAMIC VOICES & DENSITY512 PRESENT "LIGHT IT UP" — 6:00PM
This year, for the first time, we'll close our community caroling festival with a FULL PANO CONCERT! In anticipation of our spring "Divas" collaboration, we'll be presenting a pop-heavy holiday program, complete with exceptional guest instrumentalists from Density512. We hope you'll kick off your holiday season with this FREE and festive set at our very favorite local brewery....

More about Panoramic Voices
Directed by Juli Orlandini, Panoramic Voices is an adventurous choral collective that thrives on a “music without borders” approach to music making. With collaborations spanning all genres from classical, country, rock, hip hop, and beyond, PV has worked with a dizzying array of artists such as Mobley, Roky Erickson, Carson McHone, Calliope Musicals, Zeale, and Grammy Award-winners Roomful of Teeth. The commissioning of new works has also been an important part of Panoramic Voice’s mission, resulting in the premiere of compositions by Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline Shaw, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche, Austin luminary Graham Reynolds, and many more. The ensemble has been widely recognized for its artistic endeavors, including “Best Choral Performance” from the Austin Critics’ Table, a cover story on Chorus America’s “The Voice” magazine, and regular listing among the Austin Chronicles “Top 10 Treasures.” In 2014, the Austin Chronicle dubbed Brent Baldwin (Panoramic Voice’s past Artistic Director) “Best Choral Wrangler” in its “Best of Austin” awards. The Austin American Statesman has hailed the group’s work as “always adventurous.”
