What’s Happening?

New York power duo Kazemde George (tenor saxophone) and Sami Stevens (voice and keys) bring their intoxicating blend of jazz, soul, and global groove to the Black Cat stage. Drawing on influences from Hip-Hop and R&B to Cuban rumba, 70s singer-songwriters, and classic bossa nova, their sound is a conversation—intimate, exploratory, and deeply human.

Since first meeting at the New England Conservatory, the pair—now newly married—have built a singular musical language through two acclaimed albums, an EP, and a short film. George’s latest release, I Insist, earned four stars from Downbeat, praised for its “spiritual plane to consider what is at stake in imagining and remembering who we are.” Stevens’ solo debut on Sunnyside Records, Morning, was hailed by Glide Magazine for establishing her as “one of the most promising songwriters to appear in recent years.”

Expect lush harmonies, deep rhythm, and magnetic chemistry from two artists who blur the line between collaboration and connection.

Band Lineup:
Sami Stevens, Voice
Kazemde George, Saxophone
Kai Lyons, Guitar
Giulio Xavier Cetto, Bass
Malachi Whitson, Drums
