Look What Fell Out De Mango Tree - A True Story (Benefit For Jamaica)

What’s Happening?

Dear Friends,

My name is Debra Ehrhardt, an award-winning storyteller born and raised on the beautiful island ofJamaica. For years, I’ve shared my true stories on stages all around the world — from laughter-filled theatres to hushed rooms where a single story could change a life.

Five years ago, I decided to give back to the next generation of storytellers in Jamaica by foundingWhat’s Your Story, Jamaica? — the island’s biggest storytelling competition. Each year, we award over one million Jamaican dollars (about $7,000 USD) to help our semi-finalists and finalists turn their stories into dreams that live and breathe on stage.

This year, our fundraising journey took a hit. Four of my benefit shows in Jamaica were cancelled when the hurricane struck. Flights were grounded, stages went dark — but the stories must go on.

So, I’m bringing the magic here.
🎭 Join me for a special performance of my new play, Look What Fell Out De Mango Tree, directed by Paul Williams at Campus Jax in Irvine, on Saturday, Nov 22 at 1pm.

This true story is about the pain we inherit, the forgiveness we choose, and the freedom we find in truth. It’s funny, moving, and deeply Jamaican — yet it speaks to something universal in all of us: the power to heal, to laugh, and to reclaim our own story.

All proceeds will go toward supporting storytellers in Jamaica and keeping the competition alive.

Your presence and support mean the world — not just to me, but to every young voice in Jamaica waiting to be heard.

Please share this with your friends, come enjoy a night of storytelling, and help us keep the stories alive.

With love and gratitude,
Debra Ehrhardt
