A Piano Man Christmas

Christmas Concert

What’s Happening?

Minnesota’s favorite piano man, Phil Thompson, returns to Chanhassen Dinner Theatres with a brand-new holiday show making its debut in the Fireside Theatre! For many of us, Christmas is a time for family and friends to gather around the piano—and this show does just that.

After years of performing his popular Billy & Elton: The Hits concert, Phil now brings his own original arrangements of holiday favorites—all centered around the piano—such as “Wonderful Christmastime” (Paul McCartney), “Step Into Christmas” (Elton John), “Driving Home for Christmas” (Chris Rea), “Hallelujah” (Leonard Cohen), “Wintersong” (Sara Bareilles) and “This Christmas” (Donny Hathaway). The show also features touching piano performances choreographed with video, including “Christmas Time Is Here” (A Charlie Brown Christmas) and “Walking in the Air” (The Snowman).

Phil will be joined by an incredible eight-piece band, including two-time South Dakota Rock & Roll Music Hall of Famer John Bertsch on saxophone, Jeff Perry on guitar and special guest vocalist Tristana Ward.

Phil Thompson is an internationally acclaimed piano performer and official Kawai-endorsed touring artist. Recent performance venues include Mandalay Bay and Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the MGM Grand in Macau and many of the globe’s top sporting events, including the US Open Tennis Tournament in New York for three consecutive years, the Rogers Cup, the Shanghai Rolex Masters, the China Open and the Wendy’s 3 Tour Challenge in Las Vegas. Phil has also headlined several specialty-themed cruise events, most notably the Smooth Jazz and Wine, Dine & Music cruises, alongside artists such as Kenny Loggins, Three Dog Night, George Benson and Peabo Bryson. He has also served as an opening act for artists including Rod Stewart, The Doobie Brothers, David Foster, Brian McKnight, The Tenors and Clay Aiken. When not on the road, Phil can be seen on WCCO/CBS-4 as their “Man About Town” and on PBS during high-profile pledge drives for artists such as Josh Groban, Michael Bublé and Tony Bennett.
