Join us for Sunday Trekking at the Forest! We will hike 2-4 miles on different trails each week, and explore the forest during the winter months. Hikes will be more advanced and traverse hilly terrain. We encourage you to bring snowshoes on snowy days! Remember to dress for the weather and bring water.
This program is free for members or with daily admission. Participants must preregister.
Founded in 1913, Fontenelle Forest is one of Nebraska's oldest conservation organizations and one of the largest private nature centers in the nation. This federally designated 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity is a National Natural Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites. Fontenelle Forest owns and manages two nature centers: Fontenelle Forest Nature Center in Bellevue and Neale Woods in Omaha. The properties encompass over 2,100 acres of forest, prairie and wetlands along the Missouri River in the geographically significant Loess Hills. The mission of Fontenelle Forest is to provide a place where people can experience and enjoy the quiet wild of nature. We want to inspire current and future generations to care for the natural world.
