What’s Happening?

Highway Lights: Power of a Planet
Concert Premiere – November 7
Central Presbyterian Church, Austin, TX

Renowned Austin musicians Sara Nelson (cello) and Justin Sherburn (synthesizers) return with Power of a Planet, the second album from their ambient-classical project Highway Lights. Following the acclaim of their eclipse-inspired debut, this new work turns its gaze to the rings and moons of Saturn. Each movement is a celestial meditation, balancing stark beauty and cosmic wonder through Nelson’s emotive strings and Sherburn’s expansive soundscapes.

The vinyl edition of Power of a Planet is available now, with streaming available later this fall.

The journey culminates on November 7 with a one-night-only immersive concert premiere at Central Presbyterian Church. In a groundbreaking collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Anlo Sepulveda (Yakona), the concert will debut Planetarium Mobilis—a pop-up planetarium experience. Audience members will recline on pews while NASA imagery and cinematic visuals are projected onto the vaulted ceiling, transforming the sanctuary into a cosmic voyage.

Part concert, part meditation, part immersive art installation, Highway Lights invites you to lie back, look up, and lose yourself in the stars.

Tickets range from $20.00 to $25.00 at kmfa.org/powerofaplanet.
