Opening Reception Concert DJ

What’s Happening?

F R /\ M E W O R K S is a new interdisciplinary music series for 2025 designed to take audiences on an adventurous cultural and artistic journey in the state-of-the-art A-Frame Theater at the Wende Museum's Glorya Kaufman Community Center. The series merges creative disciplines, from film and dance to poetry and music, and takes inspiration from the collection and exhibitions of the Wende.

UNDERGROUND is a music performance by Teira that explores the impact of the Cold War on jazz, electronic, and alternative music culture, inspired by the Wende Museum's exhibition, Counter/Surveillance: Control, Privacy, Agency. The concert will begin at 4PM, preceded by a DJ set at 3PM by Ashla Chavez Razzano.

“Songs have always been used to inspire, transmit coded messages, and breakdown idealogical walls that hinder human connection. This performance is a meditation on resilience, collaboration, and experimentation under the weight of surveillance.“ —Teira

Ensemble

Teira — Voice

Marcus Anthony Mack —Keys/Synths

Karl McComas-Reichl — Bass and Cello

Efa Etoroma Jr. — Drums

Teira Lockhart Church is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work incorporates music performance, sound installation, and sculpture. She produces immersive performances using analog synths and found objects to recreate her inner world from a dilapidated swap meet to an abandoned baptism pool in South Los Angeles. Her practice explores the connectivity between the body and sound, the ephemeral nature of technology, and spirituality. She has completed performance art commissions for notable institutions including The Los Angeles Music Center, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE), and Los Angeles Nomadic Division.
